Revolution Jesus and understanding Religion

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

I just got home a while ago from seeing the movie Revolution Jesus with my nephew and first, let me say it is a must-see! The movie is so touching and so inspiring. I started doing laundry as soon as I got home but I had to sit down and write this while it’s still fresh and I will probably end up doing a part 2 with anything I forget because this is life-changing material people!

I know so many people that are lost, that are non-believers, people that go the spiritual route, and I even know people that curse God. Why is that though? If religion and the concept of religion are so beautiful? This is because the way that it is taught in the churches, and by Christians, is out of date and old fashion, some of it is wrong, and many people don’t understand the material. Now if you talk to someone about religion and God that does understand the material, I mean genuinely understand it and its messages and concept then you will be able to understand the value of God and religion. I have so much information and so many different ideas going on in my head right now so this blog may be all over the place and I apologize for that ahead of time. I haven’t been able to sit down and organize my thoughts because this is too important to share for me to be worrying about organization and writing techniques or writing styles right now!

I told my 22-year-old nephew who is the most brilliant young man I know that he should write an Understanding God and Religion for Dummies because when he breaks things down to me, he does it in a way that makes it relatable and in a way that I understand the message he is trying to get through to me from the bible. This young man could literally remake every story in the bible into a story that all of us can understand in the most simple and impactful way. So hopefully that will happen but until then I am going to try and break this down in my own way.

The movie in a nutshell is about the church doing the right thing and Christians opening their doors to people that are different from them (in this case hippies) but that still love, believe in, and worship Jesus Christ and God. Now they are seeking “God or the truth” in their own ways. Some through love and peace, some through drugs, and some are tree huggers. Whatever the difference maybe these people are all searching for the same things. They are searching for purpose, love, support, family, acceptance, guidance, and help….

You see at the end of the day everyone wants the same things. Peace, love, harmony, health, wealth, family, love, foundation, and purpose but we all go different ways about looking. Some people believe that we can find love or wealth through drugs, or relationships and that we can have power and happiness with large amounts of money. We also get lost in the material things of the world and the lies from the momentary pleasure that comes from food, sex, and drugs. We believe the lies of society and our everyday demands believing that the only way to be successful or happy is to work a 9-5, buy a house, and have a family. This is normal because no one is perfect and it is all we know because it is all we’re taught but in believing these lies, sometimes we lose ourselves and we fail to see the truth of what religion and God really are.

Are you religious?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Undecided

Now these people that are so caught up in believing these lies, become weak and they become drug addicts, they suffer from mental illnesses, and trauma consumes their lives, but they usually have something in common or for that matter they lack some things in common. These people are usually people that have never had a mentor or someone to guide them. They have never had a support system; they are people that have been rejected by everyone because they were different. They are outcasts or loners, they are people that had a guide that maybe did the best they could but didn’t have a guide themselves and therefore projected their trauma, insecurities, problems, and beliefs onto their children, and so on. So, these people are unwillingly and unknowingly placed into a pattern that they never even accepted into their lives. They are just doing all they know how to do and when the ones that are not okay with this go on to look for the truth, answers, or just something different from all they know. Society, other people, and the churches reject them because they don’t fit into the script or visual concept of what the church says Christians should look, sound, speak, and act like. They shun them because they do not fully understand religion, but I don’t even think many Christians understand what loving God looks like. Now I don’t care how Christian you are, you have sinned, and you probably sin every single day. Maybe your sins are not as great, but they are sins nonetheless and what gives one person the right to sin more or less than the next? So, what gives any of us the right to judge one another or say that they are less deserving of love, acceptance, support, or help than the next person.?

This is what religion is about! It’s about loving one another, helping each other, respecting each other, taking the time to try and understand each other, peace, and harmony, supporting each other, and not judging each other. You would be surprised how many more miracles would happen every day or how easier the day or the problems we face would be if there were more people in the world that cared, that was generous, supportive, accepting, non-judgmental, and peaceful. Imagine if more people were willing to sacrifice for the people that they love. Forgiving people, people that understand that we are all human, we all make mistakes, we all fail and make the wrong choices. People with open arms and hearts.

I will use diversity as an example. People that are comfortable with diversity and okay with the concept of different. These people can probably understand the concept of religion better than someone who is not comfortable with diversity or people different than them. Hateful people, angry people, and resentful people are usually the ones that don’t grasp the concept of religion and God. They often think that they are God. These are also the people with large egos (egos, jealousy, and pride block blessings people) Okay back on the topic of diversity. Let’s say two People from two walks of life have a disagreement on something. These are two people, however, with patience, open hearts, accepting, and understanding people, not people that are thinking with their ego and trying and understand why the other person disagrees. In communication and an open heart/mind you may learn that their difference is not from their ego and believing they are smarter, superior, or more knowledgeable but due to their culture, childhood, religion, or parents, and you may even find some truth in their beliefs. This won’t always happen of course but stay with me because it could also happen often. Think of how many different ways you can learn to look at a situation and from how many other angels you can look at a situation to understand it.

This alone can help you in becoming a better YOU by learning as much as you can about the world, about life, about “things”, cultures, religions, people, places, and concepts, we can then decide for ourselves about the way we truly feel, the things we truly believe, the things we truly like and dislike and so on. Not just what we were told to like or dislike growing up, or what the people that we were around liked, what society told us to like and do but what we truly find fills our hearts. You may end up falling in love with Asian culture or values, you may end up deciding you love a language you never even knew existed, and you may end up realizing that you love your life the way it is and find yourself grateful for what you already have. Either way, this is what it's all about. In loving others and accepting others for who THEY are you will learn to LOVE and ACCEPT YOURSELF for who you truly are. In learning to love others and yourself despite flaws, failures, bad habits, committed sins, or differences. We then accept these and invite each other in to aid in mental, emotional, and financial support, solutions, guidance, and people can begin to heal, change, and become better people and that’s a beautiful thing because imagine a world full of love and acceptance and think about how amazing that world would be to live in. In a world where you can be anything… Be accepting of eternal life and everlasting love
