Unheard Voices is more than an app, it's a movement dedicated to ensuring that people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity are no longer spoken about but spoken with. Our mission is to create a safe, respectful, and empowering platform where unhoused individuals can share their stories honestly, anonymously if they choose, and without fear of judgment. Every story matters. More importantly, every story contains valuable insights that can help improve the systems designed to serve people. By collecting lived experiences, identifying common barriers, and recognizing patterns across communities, Unheard Voices aims to transform personal stories into meaningful data that can inform better decisions. This information can help nonprofits, policymakers, researchers, service providers, and community leaders better understand what is and isn't working, leading to more effective, compassionate, and evidence-informed policies. In addition to storytelling, Unheard Voices offers a growing Resource Hub, making it easier for individuals to find shelters, food banks, healthcare services, mental health resources, legal assistance, employment opportunities, hygiene services, and other essential community resources. Our goal is to reduce the time and frustration people often experience when searching for help by bringing trusted resources together in one accessible place. The platform also features the Advocacy Academy, an educational space created specifically for people with lived experience. Here, users can learn how government works, understand how public policy is made, develop public speaking and storytelling skills, write to elected officials, testify at public meetings, and become effective advocates in their own communities. We believe lived experience is expertise, and those who have experienced homelessness firsthand deserve the knowledge and confidence to influence the policies that affect their lives. Our long-term vision is to build a nationwide network of community voices that helps bridge the gap between lived experience and decision-making. Lasting solutions cannot be created without including the people most affected by the issues. As Unheard Voices continues to grow, we are actively seeking community partners, nonprofit sponsors, philanthropic organizations, and corporate sponsors who believe in the power of lived experience to create better public policy. Sponsorships will help us expand resources, improve technology, and bring the platform to more communities across the country. We are also looking for volunteer moderators and local advocates in counties throughout the United States who are passionate about supporting respectful conversations, maintaining a safe environment, connecting users with local resources, and helping build strong community networks.
